Privacy Policy

Last updated: 20 June 2026
This policy explains how Strathwatt handles your information when you use our website and get a quote. We keep it in plain English. If anything is unclear, please get in touch using the details at the bottom.

Who we are

STRATHWATT LTD ("Strathwatt", "we", "us", "our") provides an instant quoting service for home improvements in Scotland — including renewables and roof & wall coatings. We are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. We are a company registered in Scotland (company number SC891516), registered office 5 La Belle Place, Glasgow, G3 7LH, and we handle your information in line with UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).

What we collect

Depending on how you use the site, we may collect:

TypeExamples
Details you give usYour name, email address, phone number, the upgrade you're interested in, your preferred contact method and timeframe, and your consent choices.
Your propertyYour postcode and house number/name, property type, number of bedrooms, current heating and rough energy spend.
Energy Performance dataWhere available, your property's published Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) details, which we look up to size your quote accurately.
Quote & usage dataThe products and figures we generated for you, and how you moved through the quote.
Marketing attributionIf you arrive from an advert, the campaign and click identifiers in the link (for example utm_source, utm_campaign and a Facebook click ID), so we understand which advert brought you here.
Technical dataStandard information your browser sends with each request, such as your IP address and device/browser type, used to keep the service secure and working (see "Cookies and advertising").

How we use your information

Our legal bases

We rely on your consent when you ask us to share your details with an installer. We rely on our legitimate interests to run, secure and improve the quoting service and to measure the performance of our advertising, and on legal obligation where the law requires us to keep certain records. Where you have given consent (for installer contact) you can withdraw it at any time.

Who we share it with

We never sell your personal information. We share it only with:

Cookies and advertising

We keep this simple: our site does not use advertising or tracking cookies, and there is no Facebook/Meta pixel or similar tracker running in your browser — so there's no cookie banner to wade through. We use only the minimal storage needed to make the site work.

To understand whether our adverts on Facebook and Instagram are working, we measure conversions server-side using Meta's Conversions API. When you submit a quote or enquiry, we share a limited set of data with Meta — your contact details in hashed (irreversible) form, along with your IP address and browser type and any advert click identifier from your link. This lets Meta match the conversion to an advert without placing trackers on your device. You can manage ad personalisation in your Facebook/Instagram account settings.

How long we keep it

We keep your enquiry for as long as needed to provide the service and follow up on it, and to keep proper business records — typically up to 24 months from your last contact with us, unless we need to keep it longer to meet a legal requirement or resolve a dispute. After that we delete or anonymise it.

Storing your information

Your information is stored on secure services. Some of our providers may process data outside the UK; where they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as UK-approved data transfer terms) to protect it.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to access a copy of your information, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict certain uses, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any of these, contact us using the details below. You also have the right to complain to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk, though we'd appreciate the chance to help first.

Children

Our service is intended for homeowners and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the "last updated" date shown above.
